The portraits play with the conscience of the presence of an other freedom. My studies drawn in the museum, however, are not aiming so much at the transcendence of the other, but at its epistemological basis: nobody can seriously deny the existence of others. Nevertheless, everything that actually qualifies a personal existence as such lies principally beyond my perception. In the same way, I never have a concrete conception of how I appear to others. Consequently, it must be also possible to testify to the existence of a personal being in a convincing and pure representational manner. This marks the work hypothesis of the following studies. They try to convey a personal encounter, authentically realized in the past, into our presence by the mere means of drawing.
